Custom NetSuite Reports for Payroll Processing

By: bluetent Wednesday, August 25, 2010 - 9:00pm

Custom reports have saved me hours and turned a tedious payroll submission into a simple, efficient and comfortable process. I access custom reports for specific Pay Periods and easily transfer the data to my ADP EasyPay payroll worksheet. All employees post their hours in NetSuite’s Weekly Time Tracking where they indicate hours for Holidays, Vacations, and Sick/Personal time off from work (Paid Time-Off Report). Read more »

Customer Payment Methods

By: peter@bluetent.com Wednesday, August 18, 2010 - 9:44am

When coming in to take over the invoicing duties at Blue Tent marketing we didn’t have a clear understanding of what payment methods our clients used. We offer clients three choices on how they can pay their Blue Tent invoices: pay by check, by credit card, or via ACH. We had no idea of how many open invoices were assigned to each payment method and didn’t really have clear visibility into when and how much would be processed and deposited into our checking account. Simply put, trying to manage cash flow was a challenge. What did we do about it? First we clearly labeled each customer Read more »

Netsuite CRM Use

By: peter@bluetent.com Tuesday, August 3, 2010 - 7:39am

Netsuite CRM Use:
We are getting ready here to start a new marketing push to current clients to help the move forward with a Google Apps implementation.  I posted a few months back about our transfer to a single Google email system and in the weeks since our company has taken advantage of many of the collaboration documents and spreadsheets.  In the  last few months our IT director completed all the necessary steps to become a Google Apps certified consultant.  So now it's time to sell! We are working on a series of Netsuite reports to mine our customer data base for the most likely candidates to offer this service. This has been a great eye opener for our top level management .....  we always "thought" we were utilizing Netsuites software as a service CRM "well"....but we found we have a LOT of work to do! Two things came out of this next generation of CRM use..... First we see that as an organization we have to do a much better job of capturing information about our customers businesses. Read more »

Netsuite Dashboards For Managers

By: peter@bluetent.com Tuesday, July 20, 2010 - 7:41am

Blue tent is now officially one year into our production teams using NetSuite as a full-time project management tool.  I thought it would be pretty neat to share with the nation how we have customized the dashboard of our departmental directors.  Our company is comprised of five main departments.  We include things like search engine optimization and email marketing in different departments.  As business continues to grow, and we look for ways to give our managers real-time in up to date information making NetSuite dashboards even more essential.  Let's use our search engine optimization Read more »

Mid July - Accounting Software Thoughts

By: peter@bluetent.com Tuesday, July 13, 2010 - 9:53am

I can't believe it's already close to the middle of July.  As this summer continues to move into full swing business at blue tent continues to do well.  Just last week our director of sales and I headed to the outer banks of North Carolina.  This story should resonate well with other NetSuite users.  The nightmares of not having access to your data and company information is now days of old. 4th of July and Software

By: peter@bluetent.com Sunday, July 4, 2010 - 2:40pm

I wanted to wish the Netsuite nation a happy 4th of July.  As everyone rolls into full summer swing, it's always important to remember the nightmare Blue Tent was in just two summers ago.  Our company was running three separate and independent software systems.  One for sales.  One for accounting.  One for project management.  It was two years ago that we decided to make the march toward an integrated online software system.  I am reminded as the second quarter came to an end of the efficiencies Blue Tent has experienced by our move to an integrated system.  There are so many choices w Read more »

CRM functions and why you need to have accounting talk to sales

By: peter@bluetent.com Thursday, July 1, 2010 - 7:08am

This summer will prove to be either a big move for small/ midsized business or it may go down as the Titanic. It's up to each of us as leaders to make sure that nightmare does not happen to our business. One of the things we are doing at Blue Tent is an in-depth customer segmentation process. In the first 4 months of the year we saw many small to mid sized businesses really starting to spend more and focus more on growth. As of the last 45 days, we have seen things cool down a bit. Netsuite and the Browser to Work the Cloud

By: peter@bluetent.com Wednesday, May 19, 2010 - 7:41am

This week it hit me as I was having my old lap top melt down (part of the reason I am writing this on a Saturday), what is the best web browser to use when you fire up Netsuite? I had an old Dell laptop and I have replaced it with a cheap E Machine for the office and a fancy Mac laptop for the road. I seem to remember originally I was told to use Internet Explorer (IE), but of late I have really liked the Chrome browser. Does anyone know what Netsuite is telling people to use? Read more »

Netsuite Accounting and Client Insight

By: bluetent Monday, May 10, 2010 - 10:56am

This last month Blue Tent launched a new client program. We need to show our clients more ROI and more personal attention. The hard question is how do you decide which  customers get the limited attention time you have?

Netsuite’s Learning Curve

By: bluetent Sunday, April 18, 2010 - 11:45am

As April 15th passes by and we are all pushed to either file extension on our tax commitments or do your final filing, I thought I would share a story about our Vice President of Operations. As many of us know in business the nightmare of consistent systems can spell the end of your efficiency and effectiveness. Many of you know that I am a big user of Netsuite Software and a big fan, but I think the story of our accounting practices rubbing off on our production team is telling. Read more »
