Going Green with Cloud Computing
With all the buzz around going green, I came across this article in InfoWorld ( http://www.infoworld.com/d/cloud-computing/businesses-should-demand-tax-... ) and thought, hey, why not? The author is arguing that if the government is going to give tax breaks for things like tinted office windows, using geothermal heat pumps or driving hybrids, why not cloud computing too? Based on the findings that cloud computing saves the same per year as the annual electricity consumption of 56,000 homes and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by more than 423,000 metric tons, cloud computing is significantly better for the environment than many of the initiatives the government is already giving tax credits for. Wouldn’t it be great if you could use a product like NetSuite, have all your information in one place, not have to mess with all the nightmares of integrating multiple systems for Ecommerce, CRM and accounting , help the environment AND get money back from the government? !?! I’m sure there will have to be many more studies to come on cloud computing if there is any chance of a tax break, but you can bet that it would be a great incentive to get millions of Americans to move their business to the cloud, and at the same time, make life easier for business owners overall.
