Netsuite Export Function For Operations Team

By: peter@bluetent.com Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 10:13am

NetSuite’s “Export to Excel” function enables me to drop my AP Aging Report into a spreadsheet where I can prepare a Custom Cash Requirements Report quickly. We then have current data upon which to base daily decisions on how to best utilize our cash resources. We can move funds from Line of Credit to Checking Account to Money Market Funds, pay vendors, fund payroll, and make short-term and long- term decisions for how to best spend our money.

More Saved Searches

By: peter@bluetent.com Wednesday, December 29, 2010 - 8:18am

As 2010 comes to a close, Blue Tent, like many other businesses are wrapping up the year and their financial reporting.  The last quarter of 2010 and Blue Tent's use of Netsuite has been centered around the use of saved searches.  This function has proved so valuable for us as the ability for our business to make real time decisions based on either financial or project based milestones is a must. I remember the nightmares of days past when we would have project managers working on projects way past budgets. Read more »

Custom Formulas on Saved Searches

By: peter@bluetent.com Monday, December 13, 2010 - 2:53pm

In addition to email notifications, BTM has created many Custom Formulas on Saved Searches. Twice monthly HR utilizes Custom Formulas with Saved Searches to calculate Sales Commissions for each pay period, eliminating much time and effort and ensuring more accuracy. We do know that Netsuite has an automated tool for sales commission tracking, however, it did not work the way we needed it. The great thing about the software is you have the ability to choose.....is the Netsuite report out of the box what I need .... or .... Read more »

Saved Searched and Saved Time

By: peter@bluetent.com Thursday, December 2, 2010 - 2:50pm

Here at Blue Tent Marketing, we’re big on NetSuite’s Email Notifications from Saved Search Results feature. In the Human Resources Department, we use them to track 90 day Evaluations for New Hires and Annual Reviews for established employees. We schedule the Email Notifications based on hire dates. When HR receives the Emails, the Supervisors and Managers are reminded to contact employees and schedule reviews in a timely manner. We send the required forms with the notification and are confident there will be no more reviews falling through the cracks. Read more »

Release 2010.2- only a few more days!

By: peter@bluetent.com Friday, October 1, 2010 - 9:10am

The new appearance of Release 2010.2 promises to reduce eyestrain.
It’s amazing how simply changing the colors sooths the eyestrain.  But the cleaner layout and the more contemporary views promise to make the NetSuite experience and the day-to-day processes even more “stress-less”.

Custom NetSuite Reports for Payroll Processing

By: bluetent Wednesday, August 25, 2010 - 9:00pm

Custom reports have saved me hours and turned a tedious payroll submission into a simple, efficient and comfortable process. I access custom reports for specific Pay Periods and easily transfer the data to my ADP EasyPay payroll worksheet. All employees post their hours in NetSuite’s Weekly Time Tracking where they indicate hours for Holidays, Vacations, and Sick/Personal time off from work (Paid Time-Off Report). Read more »

Customer Payment Methods

By: peter@bluetent.com Wednesday, August 18, 2010 - 9:44am

When coming in to take over the invoicing duties at Blue Tent marketing we didn’t have a clear understanding of what payment methods our clients used. We offer clients three choices on how they can pay their Blue Tent invoices: pay by check, by credit card, or via ACH. We had no idea of how many open invoices were assigned to each payment method and didn’t really have clear visibility into when and how much would be processed and deposited into our checking account. Simply put, trying to manage cash flow was a challenge. What did we do about it? First we clearly labeled each customer Read more »

Netsuite CRM Use

By: peter@bluetent.com Tuesday, August 3, 2010 - 7:39am

Netsuite CRM Use:
We are getting ready here to start a new marketing push to current clients to help the move forward with a Google Apps implementation.  I posted a few months back about our transfer to a single Google email system and in the weeks since our company has taken advantage of many of the collaboration documents and spreadsheets.  In the  last few months our IT director completed all the necessary steps to become a Google Apps certified consultant.  So now it's time to sell! We are working on a series of Netsuite reports to mine our customer data base for the most likely candidates to offer this service. This has been a great eye opener for our top level management .....  we always "thought" we were utilizing Netsuites software as a service CRM "well"....but we found we have a LOT of work to do! Two things came out of this next generation of CRM use..... First we see that as an organization we have to do a much better job of capturing information about our customers businesses. Read more »

By: peter@bluetent.com Tuesday, July 20, 2010 - 7:41am

Blue tent is now officially one year into our production teams using NetSuite as a full-time project management tool.  I thought it would be pretty neat to share with the nation how we have customized the dashboard of our departmental directors.  Our company is comprised of five main departments.  We include things like search engine optimization and email marketing in different departments.  As business continues to grow, and we look for ways to give our managers real-time in up to date information making NetSuite dashboards even more essential.  Let's use our search engine optimization Read more »

Mid July - Accounting Software Thoughts

By: peter@bluetent.com Tuesday, July 13, 2010 - 9:53am

I can't believe it's already close to the middle of July.  As this summer continues to move into full swing business at blue tent continues to do well.  Just last week our director of sales and I headed to the outer banks of North Carolina.  This story should resonate well with other NetSuite users.  The nightmares of not having access to your data and company information is now days of old.
