Blue tent is now officially one year into our production teams using NetSuite as a full-time project management tool. I thought it would be pretty neat to share with the nation how we have customized the dashboard of our departmental directors. Our company is comprised of five main departments. We include things like search engine optimization and email marketing in different departments. As business continues to grow, and we look for ways to give our managers real-time in up to date information making NetSuite dashboards even more essential. Let's use our search engine optimization

I can't believe it's already close to the middle of July. As this summer continues to move into full swing business at blue tent continues to do well. Just last week our director of sales and I headed to the outer banks of North Carolina. This story should resonate well with other NetSuite users. The nightmares of not having access to your data and company information is now days of old.

I wanted to wish the Netsuite nation a happy 4th of July. As everyone rolls into full summer swing, it's always important to remember the nightmare Blue Tent was in just two summers ago. Our company was running three separate and independent software systems. One for sales. One for accounting. One for project management. It was two years ago that we decided to make the march toward an integrated online software system. I am reminded as the second quarter came to an end of the efficiencies Blue Tent has experienced by our move to an integrated system. There are so many choices w

This summer will prove to be either a big move for small/ midsized business or it may go down as the Titanic. It's up to each of us as leaders to make sure that nightmare does not happen to our business. One of the things we are doing at Blue Tent is an in-depth customer segmentation process. In the first 4 months of the year we saw many small to mid sized businesses really starting to spend more and focus more on growth. As of the last 45 days, we have seen things cool down a bit.

This week it hit me as I was having my old lap top melt down (part of the reason I am writing this on a Saturday), what is the best web browser to use when you fire up Netsuite? I had an old Dell laptop and I have replaced it with a cheap E Machine for the office and a fancy Mac laptop for the road. I seem to remember originally I was told to use Internet Explorer (IE), but of late I have really liked the Chrome browser. Does anyone know what Netsuite is telling people to use? This last month Blue Tent launched a new client program. We need to show our clients more ROI and more personal attention. The hard question is how do you decide which customers get the limited attention time you have?

As April 15th passes by and we are all pushed to either file extension on our tax commitments or do your final filing, I thought I would share a story about our Vice President of Operations. As many of us know in business the nightmare of consistent systems can spell the end of your efficiency and effectiveness. Many of you know that I am a big user of Netsuite Software and a big fan, but I think the story of our accounting practices rubbing off on our production team is telling.

This last week Blue Tent Marketing had our final meeting with our CPA to wrap up the 2009 end of year tax picture. I would assume many of you are at that point in the year as well. Both my CPA and I laughed at the nightmare of the old days of doing business when we used to have to send him a back up Quick Books file…..then NOT work on it for a few days while he got everything he needed from our business records.

Last week I posted that Blue Tent Marketing was moving all of our company email hosting to Google Apps. After a week into the transition we have been quite happy. Anytime you more email and you mess with peoples mobile devices, you can have frustration. I am wondering if anyone has taken the next step to a direct tie from Google Apps into the Netsuite cloud? If you have I would love to know how things are going for your company. I think I am going to have my IT people start the process of the set up later this spring. Check back here and Ill keep you all posted.

I saw this week that Netsuite is moving toward a tighter integration with Google Apps. This news was of interest to me as Blue Tent Marketing is moving all of our 35 employees to Google Apps this week. As a company we are always looking to avoid the nightmares of software and application changes and this move seems like a natural one for us. We have spent the better part of the last six months getting our Netsuite tuned up very very tight. Our CRM functions are going so well, our financial reports and accounting, nailed.....our projects, on track.
